Forget the Fluff, It’s Time to Speak Up!

Too much is going on to pretend that strategic pr or prayers alone will make things o.k., for you or me or my children.

Our economy is manifestation of the way in which our society, yes..us as a collective group, handled prosperity. Instead of being grateful and reinvesting, we continued to overspend just as we were programmed to do.

I just heard on KPFK tonight that it’s been calculated that the USA spends on average 1 MILLION dollars a year per soldier fighting in war. What?

In the meanwhile, small businesses are closing doors, people are loosing jobs, children continue to face more aggression from peers in their overcrowded classrooms and teachers continue to remain in a zombie state because of lack of resources and increased pressure.

Anybody have anything to add?

Well, you’ll notice a shift in what I feel is important enough to post. I hope it encourages others to at the very least speak up, not to “hate”, but to debate.

I’ve been approached to help find investors, more so now than ever before. Making dreams and visions come true takes funding, and coming up in the music and entertainment industry not only takes talent, but the means to get the work and artist out there in the public eye in a memorable way.

To get an investor, it’s imperative to demonstrate how they will get their money back and with a return. So let’s take a look at pursuing sponsors. Partnering up with a company who desire to get their image, logo, product, name exposed to a specific type of prospect can be ideal to all parties, especially when their product is a key component of a marketing campaign or image branding.

Demographics is what they are concerned with; age, gender, lifestyle, income and so on. With a strong publicity and marketing campaign, presenting how they can accomplish their goal of exposure by supporting the group with funding and products for give-aways. Sponsorship dosn’t require having to pay back anything,.. what is required is to fulfill the obligation agreed upon.

Ensuring that the agreement revolves around the concept of cross promotions and exposure, not only can a company gain exposure, they can add value to their website by driving traffic through contests and promotions coordinated by who they are sponsoring. Partnering with those that are closest and can most benefit within a sponsorship spectrum is the way to go, and elliminates the pressure of an investor breathing down your neck.. at least too early in the game.

Now it’s a different story once sponsors have been obtained.. a whole different story. That’s for next time.

Bruce Jingles on Showtime Tonight, Fri Sept 4th, 2009

Prior to doing a publicity project at the Comedy Womb in 2006, I underestimated the intelligence, stamina and heart it takes to become successful as a comedian. I also underrated laughter, and it’s feel good, almost healing effect.  So with much respect, I extend my congratulations to Mr. Bruce Jingles as his career continues to thrive because of the dedication, vision and fortitude. Showtime, ng with his name highlighted in listing is big!

I just wonder if he knew what time the show was to be aired. My daughter, who still swears Bruce is the guy from the Incredibles, was really looking forward to seeing him on t.v. She’s eleven, and I was hesitant due to the sometimes adult content of a comedian’s act.. but hey.. it was listed to air primetime….8 pm to be specific.

I want to believe he just didn’t think about it.. otherwise he may have reconsidered going on stage red eyed and a little wobbly. I wouldn’t be surprised it was part of the plan.. the delivery… but all the cursing made it impossible to allow my daughter to sit through the act. .. for me at least.  Every parent is different. Unfortunately I had to deal with a lot of “but Mom”.. as I pulled her away. It kind of sucked.

Keep up the hard work.. just don’t forget to consider the kids.. and us parents who are obligated to censor  tv viewing. We want to nurture the growing of your fan base!

After Thoughts

The party was a success in the fashion that everyone had a great time.

Marketing development wise… well, it could have been better, however, my sister felt good, everyone had fun, and knew she will be soon officially a hairstylist… I heard more than once, “My sister had no idea she was going to school to do hair”, and that was the point after all.

Event planning is hard work, and needs a team. That was my lesson.

Event Planning to Fuel Marketing Momentum!

My little sister is graduating from a Cosmotology program; two years in the making. She has worked hard and still has to prep for her state test!

Wanting to help her in creating a momentum as she gets ready to embark on this career, I thought the best way was to have a Grad Party to celebrate her accomplishment and announce to everyone she is well on her way to becoming their next hair stylist.

Mission; Ensure everyone that comes signs up for mailing list, gathering all contact info and permission to send promotional material in the future!

Objective; Develop a solid data base identifying clients to date and prospective clients in the future. Also identifying classmates and teachers so networking opportunities and resources remain open.

Purpose; Be able to present herself to a prospective Salon as an investment, for she would be coming to the table with a solid mailing list to announce her new “home” where she welcomes them to come and get hair done.

or begin working as an independent while exploring desired work locations, enabling her to market herself.

Goal; Create leverage and expose her to the advantage of developing, maintaining and ever building her mailing list, which she will learn is more valuable than anything when creating credibility to future partners/employers, as well as marketing herself and/or partnering in cross promotion efforts.

Vision; Fun, Productive and Memorable evening which will fuel her future success!

Wish me luck!

Hello world! A tip from your favorite PR gal!

I heard today on the news that more than half of Americans have had their income or investments reduced by 50%, which is huge. We can all agree, times are tough, and it can be too easy to become depressed when business slows down. Instead, empower yourself and your business by utilizing the down time to reconnect with who matters the most; your customer base.  In reality, this is the perfect opportunity to express how much you value them, their business and referrals! Take a good look at your communication and marketing plan, ensure it’s effective, and reach out to customers by letting them know  your taking action to provide the best service, product and experience by asking them for their feedback and insight.

What type of tool could be so multi as to gather an idea of the satisfaction rate of customers or clients and enhance your image in their eyes…  the customer survey. Simple way to use this tool is to include a survey card with a letter when thanking

The toughest part about marketing is convincing a person to try your service or product, and earning their business. Once that is done, it’s foolish to not nurture the relationship by letting them know you care how satisfied they are after the experience. fact.

By investing your time and efforts to customer relationships you’ll see your business flourish along with the relationships with those who turn to you to fill the need your business, service or product provides. It feels good too knowing your work is valued.

As your business thrives, you shine and increase the impact you can have on those around you, just don’t forget to give back to the community when it does.. more about that next time!
